The Scott Richards Agency is an independent insurance agency in Birmingham Alabama.

As an independent agency, we help our customers find the perfect combination of coverage and cost to fit their unique needs. We enjoy assisting customers across the state in securing affordable and reliable insurance products from a variety of trusted carriers.

Our Team

Scott has 23 years of experience in the insurance industry as a claim adjuster, claim manager, and agency principal. His experience as a captive agent, an independent broker and extensive background in claims differentiates him from other brokers. He's not going to sell a product that is not needed to protect your assets.  Scott also owns two other businesses, so he specializes in working with other business owners for their insurance needs. When not working, Scott enjoys time with family, his wife Heather and son Luke and daughter Zoe. He also enjoys bbq, sports, and refereeing basketball.

Amy Cristofani is an Associate Agent with The Scott Richards Agency. Amy grew up in Homewood and lives there with her husband and son. She earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees from UAB. Go Blazers! She also has a background in the legal field as a paralegal. Amy will work hard to find the best products and value for your unique insurance needs. 

Doug has 13 years of experience in the insurance industry as an agent, manager, and agency principal. He has experience as a captive agent and an independent broker. Prior to his career in insurance, Doug taught high school history and coached football and baseball for ten years. Doug's background in teaching, combined with his rich and varied insurance experience, allows him to lean on that experience when educating clients about their risks and how to plan for protecting their assets and financial future. Doug works to get to know you and your goals for your family and business in order to provide you with the knowledge you need to make the right choice for protecting your future. When Doug is not at the office, he is with his wife Stacey and their three children on a fun adventure. Doug and his family are active in their church's youth programs, Scouting, and youth sports.

Mary has 50 years of experience in the insurance industry. She began her insurance career as the first female adjusters with Allstate Insurance Company in North Carolina and was subsequently promoted to Claims Manager in North Carolina with Allstate Insurance. After moving to Alabama in 1982, she worked with her husband, Art, to establish a Nationwide Insurance Agency, Headley’s Insurance Agency, and has been a licensed agent since that time. Upon Art’s retirement, Mary joined the Scott Richards Agency and continues her work as an agent. Mary’s focus is upon the Client and their individual situation. Understanding the unique individual needs of the customer and being able to ensure that they have the individualized coverage to suit their personal situation, is where Mary places her emphasis. Mary prioritizes individual and personal service that is so often overlooked with our modern technology.
